TMobile (USA) Minutes Used version 1.3

The new version fixed a weird javascript regexp parsing error for some accounts.

You can download it here.

Yea, I'm stuck on "Checking Usage..." after updating to this version and signing onto a new family plan.

Any ideas?

Mine also hasn't worked properly in a couple of months, even with this upgrade. I have a single person plan and am stuck on "checking usage." I'm also running Vista.

Have you considered turning these extensions into Vista gadgets? Keep up the great work.

The T-Mobile logo that appears at the bottom of Firefox (statusbar) should be smaller so that it matches the size of the other logos that appear. Right now, it is too large and vertically expands the statusbar.

T-Mo must have changed something because this is no longer working.

Any news?

Thanks, this is working great for me. Any chance of diplaying how many messages (SMS, etc.) used in the mouse over display? Thanks so much for this extension!

Note after downloading and installing ver. 1.3 the add on box in Firefox still says it is version 1.2, Is that just a technical glitch, i.e, you didn't update the version info. in the addon???

Thanks for changing the version number.

By the way, I neglected to say thanks for creating this extension/add-on. It's very useful.

I seem to be amongst the few using the TMobile version that are stuck on 'Loading TMobile minutes used...'

its busted. t-mob seems to have changed their internal page so the parsing is off

Mine is not updating correctly at all. It is displaying that I have used 1115 minutes this billing cycle, yet when I go to T-Mobile's site it displays the correct minute usage as being 1264 minutes. This is the same # i get when i do a #646# from my phone... Any ideas as to the discrepancy? Ive never seen it this off before...

Thanks

Great extension, it's saved me tons of money be letting me know when I'm going to go over my plan. Any chance you could include sms support? Keep up the good work.

I'm still getting the 'failed to parse the minutes used' message. This has been a common trend for several versions now. I can right-click on the bar, go to TMobile's billing site, log in, then log off again, and suddenly the extension will work and display the proper information. But as soon as I exit Firefox (2.0.0.3) and re-launch it, I get the same thing again, 'Loading TMobile minutes used...' and it just sits there. If I hover over it, it says 'failed to parse the minutes used'...

The add-on doesn't seem to work with the latest nightly of 3.0a5pre. It worked up until about a week ago.

It appears that with some minor changes to the code the add-on will work with the latest trunk after all.

v1.3 has usePwdMgr set as true, which utilizes "@mozilla.org/passwordmanager;1" to access your T-Mobile password for logging in. The latest trunk doesn't have "passwordmanager", but rather "loginmanager". (See Using nsILoginManager)

I renamed tmobile-minutes.jar to tmobile-minutes.zip so I could open and edit minutesTicker.js. Once in there I changed usePwdMgr to false, saved, and changed the .zip back to a .jar. Now it works just fine in 3.0a5pre.

Thanks again for the add-on.

I've never gotten this to work either. It's always loading, or failed to load. Does anyone know of a working t-mobile minute minder? Maybe one that supports family plans?

i will add text usage in a future version. missed calls are not easily available on your account page. besides, it can be too many to list...

Wow, this is great. I constantly go over my minutes. I don't suppose that it could be made compatible with Thunderbird since that is the program that tends to be open?

This is great! Feature request for future versions? I'd love it to show my text messages used too. I can't find ANYTHING that will check that for me. Thanks for making this!

I use your T-Mobile Minute checker everyday. I love it. I am actually thinking of writing a similar program for Windows Mobile Pocket PC's and run it on the today screen. The part I do not understand in this development is how to send username / password and retrieve the info back from the T-Mobile server. Can you help me guide in writing this program? I am not writing this program for money but for free for the general public.

Tariq,

the extension was written in javascript and uses XmlHttpRequest to send request to and process from tmobile's web server. you can open the extension as a zip file and study it.

i am sure there are similar constructs to do it on pocket pc.

Projected minutes for the month seems to be less than the current used minutes.

106 mins used as of...
...
projection for month: 84

I think the new version is counting the minutes from the 1st of the month rather than the first date of the billing period, which might be on the 15th.

What's the status? Any chance for a fix? I'm stuck on "Loading T-Mobile minutes".

Firefox 2.0.0.6 and version 1.3 of the extension.

Thanks!

The projection for the month is off at the beginning of the billing period. It shows a projection that is less than the actual used.

for example, mine shows:

43/1000

43 minutes used as of 09/25/2007
1000 free minutes per month
Last Statement date 08/23/2007
Projection for this Month: 39
Utilization for this month: 4%

Is is possible to have this updated/fixed? It seems to do this at the beginning of each period.

Is this ever going to be updated/fixed? It's been 8 months since the last update and it has major issues. I don't want to sound disrespectful or unappreciative, you've done great work and I love the extension (when it was working)! But it has been prohibitively long for an update for something that's clearly broken.

This does not bode well for Firefox 3.0 either, which is bound to come out soon...

the extension works fine for me, and many other users. that's why there has not been any update. my understanding is it doesn't work for everyone. the problem is that it's hard for me to fix anything if i cannot reproduce it...

Great extension. My Projection for this month is also off, but the minutes used are the most important feature for me. Thanks!

Winston,
Just wait until 2-3 days after your billing period starts/ends. You'll see that the projected minutes used for the month will be less than what you have used.

instead of:
projectedTotal = Math.round(summary*30/diff);

it should be:
projectedTotal = Math.round(summary*31/(33-diff));

This will allow a more accurate "projectedTotal" for the month. You need 33-diff because if you use 32-diff, you'll get "infinity" for the first day of the billing period.

I customized the extension and it works well now. Again, don't get me wrong, this is a great extension/addon. I just wanted to make it better.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Winston, your TMobile add-on is a great tool for the harried parent trying to keep track of minutes. Thank you.

Do you know of anything that can track text message usage? Thank you
