TMobile (USA) Minutes Used version 1.0 (for prepaid account)

The new version now supports prepaid TMobile account. Here is a screen shot of it.

You can download the version 1.0 here.
(save the file locally and then open it from Firefox: File->Open File...)

Next on my list is to support displaying multiple accounts, which seems to be a popular request. I am swamped by other things for now. So it has to wait a while. Stay tuned...

I installed and got the following error:
error "failed to parse the minutes used"
when I right click on the tmobile icon I can use the option that goes to the tmobile site, that seems to work fine. Maybe they changed their site on you.

Love the extension. Love it.

Feature request: perhaps optionally, have the extension store the time of the last check between browser sessions. I open and close the browser a lot and I use master password, and it always prompts me for it.

Thanks!

Great extension! However, I think I found a bug. Take a look at this screenshot: http://img57.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tmmuextbugsd3.png

If you look at it closly you'll see I've used 151 min and the projected is 113, which should really be much higher than 151.

I think I got this from 1.0 and it was working fine in 0.9

it's not really a bug. if you look at your statement date, it's more than 1 month old. therefore i am assuming the 115 minutes you have used so far is for more than 1 month, which means your montly projection is lower than 115 minutes.

I see. I think there's a better way to calculate the projection:

Take the difference between today's date and last statement's date. If the difference is less than a month, then calculate the project as it is currently. Otherwise, the difference is more than a month and we know TMobile does not have user's lastest billing statement up online yet. So what you can do is mod the difference by 30 (or 31) and use the leftovers to calculate this month's projection.

This way we don't have to wait for TMobile to put up the lastest statement and still a reasonable projection.

It is an estimate, afterall.

The above method of course, is assuming the user has monthly billing cycle (which I have btw).

isn't what you said the same as what's implemented now? you will still see a projection less than your current minute usage in your case.

Hi,
Fantastic extension! Is there a reason why its not listed on the addons.mozilla.org site/support the update extension feature?

Thanks!

it's a long story why it's not listed on mozilla's addons site.

1.0 works well.
Data and text message usage should be next.
Good stuff.
Every thought of making a widget?

there is a limit on how many times you can login to the web site to check your minutes. make sure you configure the frequency in the extension's option menu correctly.

I am now getting the "failed to parse the minutes used" error on two machines I am using the extension. If I reinstall it, it works one time then fails after that. Is this due to a change in the T-mobile site? I see others are getting this as well.

I have the same problem, it says 'failed to parse the minutes used'. This is for my wife's prepaid account. She has a Sidekick 3. The extension works for my own account though. I use a 'regular' Nokia phone, also prepaid. Weird.

There are so many great extensions like yours, that my bottom bar is full! Would love to see the option to just show the used minutes only, since my allowed minutes never changes. Thanks for a great mufu'in tool!

Is there a fix coming for the new T-Mobile limitation on the number of times you can check your minutes per day?

can you make it work with firefox 2.0?

Brett,

the "fix" for the T-Mobile limitation is alredy in. basically the default frequency is set to a high value.

if you open/close your firefox frequently, you may still exceed the limit, unless you disable the checker temporarily.

Winston, are you going to address our comments about the "failed to parse the minutes used" problem? I love the extension but right now it's unusable to me on both of my computers. Thanks.

T-Mobile's web site states that they limit the number of logins now due to "customers using browser features that check their minutes regularly." They recommend setting the update interval to 60 minutes. I would recommend you not allow an interval less than 60 minutes so you cannot be held responsible.

I happen to notice this new version, which I downloaded only a week before I happen to switch my account to a pre-pay plan... talk about good timing!

Was working great for a long time. Now I see "incorrect phone number or password". Since I hadn't changed either, I have to assume that this error message is a red herring. My guess is that changes to T-Mobile's web site broke this extension.

Hmm. Now it's working again. Never mind.

I'm getting the "failed to parse minutes" error also. Perhaps this extension (v1.01) is not ready for prime time yet. Can't wait 'til it is though as it appears that it would be perfect for me.

Here we go again. I noticed that the extension stopped working today, and when I tried to sign in manually to the T-Mobile site, I noticed that the site has changed again. From the site itself: “You’ll be seeing a lot of changes from T-Mobile, including a new look on My T-Mobile.” It looks like we need to wait until the site settles down again, and then wait for Winston to grace us with a new version.
